Va’ad HaRabanim of Seattle

World Wide Gourmet Foods is a Kosher Certified production facility. We use Va’ad HaRabanim of Greater Seattle for its kosher certifying organization. Seattle Va’ad has certified our facility as Kosher Dairy, which means that there are dairy products in our plant. Because of the presence of Dairy products, we need to be mindful of what ingredients can be brought into the plant due to the restrictions on meat products and dairy products mixing. This can mean things like beef collagen cannot be used in a better for you protein bar and in that instance, you will need to substitute with a dairy compatible collagen like collagen derived from fish. Other ingredients that might be difficult to be approved are things like cricket flour or other insect-based proteins. They are not universally accepted as a kosher ingredient at this time.
Kosher Certification for your brand requires that you sign an agreement with Seattle Va’ad. Once you sign the agreement, you’ll pay a certification fee of $250 for the first year, and $250 annually to maintain that certification. After signing the agreement and paying the fee, you’ll get access to the kosher dairy icon which you can use on your packaging.
Kosher Certification is not required on your packaging. However, all of the ingredients that come into our plant must be kosher certified. That may mean changing from some of your preferred vendors or making adjustments to your formulas to use ingredients that are kosher certified.
